VT WORKERS EVENTSThanks to all your hard work over the past year, we did it!The governor allowed S.88, the bill that takes the first steps to realizing our human right to healthcare in VT, to come into law last Thursday. This is an amazing victory and we worked incredibly hard to get here--just last year they were saying that there would be no way that the legislature would take up healthcare reform in 2010, but because of our organizing efforts, the bill was taken up and passed! But this is only the beginning of the struggle to make healthcare a public good in Vermont. We've got to stay organized and get even stronger to make sure that the legislature makes good in its promise to really reform the healthcare system. Keeping the momentum going: next steps Keeping the momentum going: next stepsOur Policy Committee and People's Team are paying attention to the process of choosing an expert to design our Vermont healthcare system (as laid out in S.88) and the process of actually designing the system. We may be asking you to help make sure this process continues. Stay tuned for next steps coming soon. In order to win this next phase of the fight, we need to get even more folks involved in the Campaign, so this summer we'll be out organizing all over the state--we've got plans to be at lots of different events this summer including the Warren Parade on July 4th, Bennington Battle Day in August, and many others! We'll introduce new organizing tools next week to help us get out there and get more people involved?stay tuned.
